The Kalva Police arrested one under the same case and the doctor is now in custody.
The city has several bogus doctors and it has been claimed by various standing committee members in last few meetings. The Civic Health Department started a special drive to verify the certificates of the city-based doctors. The department first targeted the Kalva area which is allegedly said to have highest number of bogus doctors.
"We first targeted Kalva area as we received number of verbal complaints against many doctors. When we visited some of the physicians, we were shocked. The certificates and licenses that they showed us were fake. When we brought them for verification, we found that they all were bogus," said R T Kendre, Chief Civic Health Officer.
Kendre further added, "We found out of the verified doctors, around 60 per cent were with bogus documents. There were 10 doctors with fake certificates and licensing out of 16 that we verified. These doctors have been declared as bogus and we have appealed our citizens not consult them for their health check-ups. These doctors are well educated, but they do not have the legal degrees that they have mention or displayed on the certificates."
"We have already raised a complaint against all these doctors in Kalva Police station and have asked them to take a legal action against them for their fraud. Cops from the Kalva Police have been very co operative and now they arrested one who is now under their custody. The bogus doctor will now be produced in front of court for further action and the other will also expected to charge in similar manner," Kendre informed.
"Similar drives will be initiated in other part of the city to verify our doctors certificates and if we found the bogus doctors anymore we will complaint against them in local police station and demand for strict action against them," Kendre concluded.
